Owen C. Kennedy, LPC · True North Psychotherapy Services
Therapy is a space to slow down, be heard, and figure out what you actually need. I'm here to help you do that — without judgment, at your own pace.
A lot of people wait until things feel "bad enough" to reach out. But therapy isn't only for crisis — it's a place to understand yourself better, process what's weighing on you, and build the life you actually want to live. Wherever you are right now is a perfectly valid place to start.
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."— Carl Rogers

About
I started True North Psychotherapy because I believe everyone deserves a space that feels genuinely safe — where they can be honest about what they're carrying, without worrying about being too much or not enough.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded. I don't think of therapy as fixing people, because people aren't broken. I think of it as a process of getting to know yourself better — and from there, finding a truer path forward.
Outside of the therapy room, I'm someone who loves long walks, strong coffee, and the kind of conversations that go somewhere unexpected.
My Approach
I'm interested in you as a whole person — not just the problem you bring in the door. Therapy works best when we understand the context of your life, not just the surface symptoms.
You're the expert on your own experience. My role is to ask good questions, offer perspective, and walk alongside you — not to hand down answers from above.
You don't have to come in with the right words or know exactly what's wrong. Some of the best sessions start with "I don't really know where to begin."
Services
My practice is grounded in Person-Centered Therapy — the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I bring that foundation to every session, alongside specialized training in Anxiety Management, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Trauma Processing.
Divorce and separation are among the most painful experiences a person can go through — even when they're the right decision. I work with individuals navigating the emotional, practical, and identity-level upheaval that comes with the end of a relationship, including mixed family integration and co-parenting challenges.
Trauma shapes how we see ourselves and the world, often in ways we don't fully recognize. Using evidence-based trauma processing approaches, I work at a pace that feels safe for you — building the resources and resilience to move through difficult experiences rather than around them.
I am specifically trained in Trauma Processing and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which provides practical tools for managing intense emotions and building distress tolerance.
Grief doesn't follow a tidy timeline, and there's no right way to do it. Whether you've lost a person, a relationship, a version of yourself, or a life you expected — I offer a space to feel it fully and find your way through.
Whether it's chronic worry, panic, low mood, or a sense that life has lost its colour — I'm trained in Anxiety Management and draw on CBT and Solution Focused Therapy alongside my person-centered foundation to help you build lasting, practical change.
Life transitions — a career change, becoming a parent, moving countries, an existential crisis, a shift in identity — can be disorienting even when they're chosen. Therapy can help you get your bearings and move forward with intention.
I work with men, couples, families, young people, and individuals from diverse multicultural backgrounds and nations of origin. My experience spans a wide range of challenges: communication breakdown, cultural and gender bias, developmental issues, low self-esteem, coping strategy development, reality testing, substance abuse, sexual and intimacy concerns, and more.
My practice is anchored in Person-Centered Therapy, with fluency in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy. Whatever brings you in, we'll find an approach that actually fits you.
